Course Description
Climate change is one of the most complex problems we face today. This current phenomenon has not only impacts on the environment but also on many aspects of human life such as science, the economy, society, politics, and moral and ethical questions, and is a global problem, felt at the local level, that it will exist for decades and centuries to come. Carbon dioxide, the heat-trapping greenhouse gas that has caused recent global warming, remains in the atmosphere for hundreds of years, and it takes time for the planet (especially forests and oceans) to respond to warming. So even if we stop emitting all greenhouse gases today, global warming and climate change will continue to affect future generations. In this way, humanity is “committed” to some level of climate change.
This course aims to study the main causes that give rise to climate change in order to be prepared to establish the most appropriate measures for adaptation and mitigation to climate change.
